5 Ways To Kick Start Your Fitness Journey

We’ve tried over and over again to get on the bandwagon and lose weight. You’ve tried dieting and working out, only to fail countless times. You’ve drunk your water, even tried waking up early to beat the gym rush.  EVERY.SINGLE.TIME. you end up giving up. Well, say no more! I’m going to give you 10 ways that you can kick start your fitness journey and stay on it no matter what.

1. Purchase a New Cute Gym Outfit
My mom has always said to me, ‘If you look good, you feel good.’ I’ve maintained that statement my entire life. When I was in college and I was going to take an exam, I would dress up to look and feel the part so I could ace it. Let me tell you, it really works! Hop in your car, go to TJ Maxx, Marshalls, or Ross, and pick you up some cute workout clothes. Those are my go-to spot for cheap and affordable workout clothes, but that’s another post coming up!

2. Buy You A Cute Water Bottle
I bought myself the cutest water bottle in the world from Target and it was about $7.99. I have been into glass containers as of late so, I wanted a water bottle that was made of glass so that it’s easy to clean. You can find the water bottle that I have here.

3. Snatch You Up A Pedometer
Now I know that everyone doesn’t have the funds to buy a Fitbit, and that’s okay! Back when there wasn’t a Fitbit or smart watch tracker there were old-fashioned pedometers that tracked your steps for you and you wore it on your hip. I was a big fan of those and wore them way before FitBit’s came out or even was in style. Now that I have a job and can afford better technology, I use a FitBit, but you can find an affordable pedometer here. If you didn’t already know, 10,000 steps is 500 calories!

4. Download MyFitnessPal
My Fitness Pal boasts that people who calorie count lose 4x as much weight. I’ve personally been a calorie counter for years and can attest to this theory. When I was at my most snatched, I was calorie counting every single meal and everything I put in my mouth. When I say weight was melting off, it was MELTING off my body! It held me so much more accountable and I knew that I had to change my diet in order to change. There are a ton of calorie counting apps out there, Calorie Count, Healthy Weight, LifeSum. However, the most popular and my personal favorite is MyFitnessPal.

5. Join a Gym For the Cheap
Planet Fitness. Need I say more? I know there are a lot of mixed feelings about Planet Fitness and its usefulness. However, when you’re balling on a budget you have to get what you can afford. I personally believe that Planet Fitness is a great gym to start your fitness journey at. There’s a healthy mix of Cardio machines and resistance training. Plus there are some extra amenities. I go to planet fitness and it only sets me back about $ 10 a month! Can you beat that?
